Why Are We Here, and Why Are We Called GACA?

Mission
To promote civil (private citizen) ownership of firearms of all types, and to help everyone open-minded see that without such ownership, civilization as we've known and enjoyed it cannot exist.

What do we mean by 'Guns Are Civilization'?

Why the Gun Is Civilization
By: ________? Author Unknown

Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that's it.

In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact through persuasion. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason and try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force. The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gangbanger, and a single guy on equal footing with a carload of drunk guys with baseball bats. The gun removes the disparity in physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender.

There are plenty of people who consider the gun as the source of bad force equations. These are the people who think that we'd be more civilized if all guns were removed from society, because a firearm makes it easier for a mugger to do his job. That, of course, is only true if the mugger's potential victims are mostly disarmed either by choice or by legislative fiat--it has no validity when most of a mugger's potential marks are armed. People who argue for the banning of arms ask for automatic rule by the young, the strong, and the many, and that's the exact opposite of a civilized society. A mugger, even an armed one, can only make a successful living in a society where the state has granted him a force monopoly.

Then there's the argument that the gun makes confrontations lethal that otherwise would only result in injury. This argument is fallacious in several ways. Without guns involved, confrontations are won by the physically superior party inflicting overwhelming injury on the loser. People who think that fists, bats, sticks, or stones don't constitute lethal force watch too much TV, where people take beatings and come out of it with a bloody lip at worst. The fact that the gun makes lethal force easier works solely in favor of the weaker defender, not the stronger attacker. If both are armed, the field is level. The gun is the only weapon that's as lethal in the hands of an octogenarian as it is in the hands of a weightlifter. It simply wouldn't work as well as a force equalizer if it wasn't both lethal and easily employable.

When I carry a gun, I don't do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I'm looking to be left alone. The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded. I don't carry it because I'm afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid. It doesn't limit the actions of those who would interact with me through reason, only the actions of those who would do so by force. It removes force from the equation...and that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act.

Well, now, the libs have a cutesy little term for calling in FALSE police reports on peaceful open-carrying gun owners and getting them arrested, or even KILLED! 'Swatting'.

SWATTING! One More Thing for Law-Abiding Gun Owners to Worry About

The pro-gun world is starting to hear more and more about members of the anti-gun crowd “SWATTING” gun owners, specifically open carriers.

SWATTING, in case you haven’t heard, is the name people have given to the practice of calling the police and telling them someone has a gun and is actively shooting or planning to shoot innocent people. The goal is to cause a heavy-handed police response, with hopes of having the SWAT team arrive and storm the unsuspecting innocent with a violent and possibly deadly takedown. The video game crowd started SWATTING when the person about to lose the online video game would call 911 and send police to the home of his opponent.

Of course it is illegal. It is making a false police report. But people still do it and now that anti-gun crowd has decided they should do it every time they see someone with a gun. It is especially easy when the target of the SWATTING is practicing open carry.

The legal response to SWATTING should be swift and powerful for those people sending much-needed police assets against law-abiding citizens, but we can’t count on that. As long as these idiots can make anonymous reports, the police will still have to respond and gun owners will still be in danger during the police response.

Hannie Schaft to her nazi executioners "I shoot better than you"

Hannie Schaft

Part of the Dutch resistance movement in WWII. She was arrested just 3 weeks before the end of the war. Her last words to her nazi executioners, between the first and second bullets, were: "I shoot better than you."May we have HALF the guts of this young woman, and may God grant us to be on the OTHER end of a rifle, at the end!

MANDATORY [in my view] Glock safety mods...

*GLOCKS
As most know by now, I find them functional, but not very appealing to my eyes/hand. I suppose if I ever open-carried one, I'd have to jazz it up, [see pic] quite a bit. I still would not carry it with a 'standard' trigger setup, either. Don't trust that uber-light pull, and lack of manual safety, personally.

Two things to me are 'Glock mandatory': 1) NY trigger group, ala Mas' recommendations www.gundigest.com/tactical-gear/tactical-military-arms-blog/range-report-glock-new-york-trigger

2) Manual safety install as per Joe Comonolli's recommendations www.cominolli.com OR at minimum, (if the budget is strained) the low-dollar siderlock mod www.siderlock.com meaning combining Mas' advice [NYC trigger group] and it, together. That shouldn't be more than $50 total, even on the high side.

2a) Another one that came up in a recent conovo (only $20!) for those purist Glockophiles who won't permanently modify their gun (even with a temporary part) is this:
